Budapest

Fantastic city. So much to see, so much to do. I went up to the citadella today. That's a long walk up a big hill, 230 m high according to Wikipedia. I visited a 2000 year old Roman church that was on the front lines as a Garrison and in the basement of a modern church. One of the guys there was from Texas and effectively gave me a tour. There was something unlabelled in the altar and he told me it was a saint's heel bone. I also had the opportunity to tour parliament. What a beautiful building inside. There were labeled  cigar holders for each member of the house of Lords. After all the touring I went to Margaret Island to relax and wait for darkness to see Budapest lit up because it is a beautiful place at night.

WiFi here is a hit or a miss. Uploaded all the pics yesterday in like three minutes. Not they're not uploading at all.

Auschwitz

I almost didn't make it. I slept 30 mins too late and almost missed my train. The train got delayed by 30 mins just sitting between stations at one point which would have gotten me to the station after my tour started, but the driver decided to make it feel like the train was going to fly off the tracks and we made it to Osweicim just 5 minutes late. The I had to walk to the museum from the station and made it to the museum just 6 minutes before my tour started. And then I went to check in and I had to go put my bag in storage. I didn't have any money but they took it anyway and said I could pay them at the end. I ultimately joined my group two minutes before we started. The museum was tough. That stuff is never easy to see. Actually being there is a feeling like no other. I never realized just how big the camps were. Birkenau is 40 square km, or about 15.44 square miles. My tour guide was wonderful. She has worked as a guide for 15 years and was incredibly knowledge. I wish

Mt. Zeus

I went to bed effectively as soon as I got back last night and had  to leave early  sorry for  the late post. I know how much you all look forward to these. What's the tallest peak in the Cyclades? Mt. Zeus. Who decided it would be a great idea to climb up in the sweltering heat? Me... Yeah not my brightest moment. There are a few paths up. I chose the 6 km round trip one. It goes past the cave called Zeus Cave. Why so much Zeus on this mountain? Well it is where Zeus was born and raised of course. Anyways, it started so easy. There was a paved path and everything. Then very quickly it went away. I told myself I'd go see the cave and that was it. Getting there was hard on its own. As I mentioned there is no path. You're just climbing over rocks, some stable, some loose. And the only thing to balance yourself with is more rocks or incredibly spikey bushes of sorts. Very roundly shaped though. Kinda cool. Traveling sucks

We had the opportunity to sleep in until 9 AM today! Unfortunately I woke up at 8... Getting to the bus was easy. The ride was easy. The day started off so well. We have quite the trip ahead of us at this point. A bus to Zadar, ferry to Pula, overnight in Pula, ferry to Venice, and finally a train to Bologna. A solid two days of travelling but easy. Well the first part was. Arriving at Zadar there were two ports. We went to the wrong one. Luckily while there we were informed our ferry was cancelled due to weather. We looked at busses but the 4 hr car ride was extended to an 8 hr bus ride that wasn't leaving for another 10 hours, and was overnight, and was arriving when we needed to be at the port to catch our Pula to Venice ferry. So we rented a car and drove. It was a pretty simple drive, except finding the place to drop off the car was a but of a pain. The address the rental place gave was wrong. And neither of us have WiFi. But we made it eventually and they even gave us a ride
