The flight to Lisbon was pretty smooth and easy. Once I got there late, I had one thing to do other than sleep at my hotel. I had to go to the time out market and get some baby pig. In Ohrid I met a Portuguese guy who suggested two places to me and I settled on the one that made baby pig sandwich. It was delicious. The meat was so soft and fluffy and the skin was nice and crispy. If you're ever in Lisbon, this is the place: https://www.timeoutmarket.com/en/eat-and-drink/henrique-sa-pessoa/ Thank you Filipe. It was awesome. Still no food pictures. I am not about that life.
Really cute little city with fun and unique things to do. There's the Museum of Broken Relationships which was funny at times and sad at times. Really cool, really unique place. Definitely a must see if you're ever in Zagreb. I also managed to walk into the torture museum. Didn't expect to find it but kinda stumbled upon it. Small but terrifying. The things people think of to make others suffer is terrible. There's a large cathedral I went to which was nice. There was on one of the walls a scripture written for the sole purpose of convincing Croatian and other Balkan people to convert and it only really stuck here. There was a little festival going on in town too. No idea why, but there were a lot of street performers, one of the parks was packed, there were a bunch of tents, and a small food festival nearby. Later in the day in the main square they were setting up a lot of structures for some reason. It'd have been great to know what was going on. Off to Sarajevo t...
For years, my parents have always put an emphasis on traveling and experience over things. They've always said that experiences will last longer. For this reason, they always encouraged me to study abroad. Unfortunately for them, I decided to apply as an RA and I got the job, which means no studying abroad for me, at least not for a semester. I looked at summer programs but everything was way overpriced and too uninteresting to justify the absurd cost ($8,000 for two weeks, not including airfare, food, tourism, etc.). It was coming to Christmas/Hanukkah time and in her classic fashion, my mom was bugging me about what I wanted. I jokingly told her to send me to Europe for the summer. The crazy woman said okay (love you mom). It was my job to find tickets, plan dates, and of course plan the itinerary. I am a month and a half away from hopping on a plane and flying to Copenhagen. As I write this, I have more days in Europe than I do before I leave. That's a terrifying prospect....
